The Black Sea-Nims: Chapter 1
Nims, was tattered and beaten. A skeletal version of the beauty she used to be. Even though I'd never seen her when she was perfect and new I didn't find it difficult to imagine her when the rough carvings along her railings had been clear and fresh, when the glossy dark wood on her body had been undented, unpatched. Especially since I'd always thought of her as an excellent fishing boat. Though her sail had been taken down and her engine been replaced. She'd never sunk, never crashed and never failed us.
It was very early in the morning, about five. I'd woken up because of bad nerves and wandered all the way to the docks just to look out over the water and watch the orange sun glare over the black water.
